    MUMPS and PICK (BASIC) are the grand-daddies of NoSQL. They are both very much alive today. I've been a PICK programmer since the late 90's. The schema-less structure of the database tables (and like MUMPS, it's a language & a database... and at one point it was also an O/S) is much easier to work with than SQL's relational structure. The data is not normalized and is more commonly known as "multivalue." More info here... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
