I wrote about five paragraphs after this sentance and deleted it all. I'll just throw out some names of some of the biggest supporters of population control:
Stalin, Hitler, Sanger, Blavatsky..
It's nice to see that Slashdot is still a centre of logic and rational debate...
"I don't understand what all the fuss is about. The office building we constructed meets over 80% of the national building code! Is getting an 80% on an exam considered 'failing'? I think not."
This doesn't touch the fact that you have now lowered authorization and access controls to a level that is inferior to MS-DOS.
No kidding! A domain admin can set security policies that effectively prevent *anyone* from logging in, and propagate those policies to all the workstations on the domain, thus disabling local logins on every machine in the company! All it takes is one malware program...
Of course, if we don't solve our energy/sustainability problems soon (although the definition of "soon" isn't entirely clear) a lot fewer people will have to worry about stuff like that.
In theory, there should be something that differentiates your company from all of the others. If this is an app or database or other computer related item, then it should be fully customized and fully documented. You want to squeeze every last ounce of power and functionality out of this.
What about disk space? The disk space taken up by a build tree can be a lot.
In any case, extra disk space, RAM, and CPU power are almost always cheaper than having your staff spend time on set-up and maintenance.
If you look at the grandparent post, you'll see that I was simply mocking Lky1337, who made a totally unfounded assertion that the only difference between humans and apes is ethics. My point was that not only are there are other differences (glaringly obvious ones being physical appearance, diet, spoken language, average expected lifespan, etc) but the purported difference (that ethics are unique to humans) is not even entirely clear.
Yes, the link I presented is almost certainly inappropriate as evidence in any reasoned debate, but I didn't feel like trying to sift through all the PETA-propagada results from my search for "primate ethics", when my opponent was someone on Slashdot whose most convincing argument was, essentially, "I'm an intellectual!"
But anyway, kudos for showing some critical thinking.

Huh? What's that?
... poke an OSS developer in the eyes today!
Not if it's bouncing off a satellite in geosynchronous orbit!
MS Internet Explorer may not be dead yet, but it's dying at a "rate of speed" almost exceeding that of BSD! I advise that people remain cautious.

Fools. Politicians should learn to read technical documents and the recommendations of technical experts.
Could you enlighten those of us who haven't used JSP?
Ok, but PLEASE don't trust the user comments. The suggestions are almost certainly wrong, and are often dangerous.
Shhh! How are we supposed to avoid people like this if you keep teaching them how to sound like they know what they're talking about?
No, they usually use "Overrated" =)

It's only about 100 words. Follow the link.

In any case, the dependency isn't there anymore.

Winnings? I don't think that's what they're concerned about.
Have you heard about the RIM patent case? RIM violated US patents, entirely outside the US, but that didn't stop the judge.
Apes might have ethics after all.
Priceless...

I hope for their sake that the Brits have their own compilers.
