well actually .. it's not the server that's having a problem. It's the pipe leading to the server that's currently having a problem. It's on a unfortunately small dsl pipe. I HAD a bit torrent thing set up, but because of the way it works, things got messed up. Of course, if you are one with the overnet, you can also get it here (orb.zip)

I can provide the raw files if you want. Unfortunately, I cannot get the html from ther server right now (though I'm working on it). Or if you have a bit torrent tracker (or someone else does, I can provide a torrent file to distribute it using bit torrent..

Oh yeah, as for cost. Most of the none-sample parts cost around $20 (with shipping). If you need a pic programmed with the code, email me, and we can work out an arrangement.

yeah my server is a really whimpy box...
If you can get to it, http://b0b.net/~seb/orb.torrent is a bit torrent version of all the files.

I know I'm asking for trouble by posting my URL on slashdot... but here:

    http://v8.emorific.com/images/articles/orb_schemat ic.jpg

Please be nice to my server. This is an untested schematic, use at your own risk. Note that the caps need the same value as your crystal's load capacitance, so you may need to change those. VSS is +5v. The only other thing that is needed to connect this to your computer is a signal level converter for serial (max232 chip would do it..) I'll be designing a quick little circuit to do that tomorrow. The source code for the pic chip hasn't been written (again, I'll write that tomorrow). If you are really interested in this, let me know and I email you the urls for the missing parts when I have completed it.
