Poor controls are a huge regulatory concern so Mizuhno will get dinged with fines and restrictions post-incident and the trader becomes a joke for weeks on his one share order that shook the markets or gets sent packing to save face.
Ideally- they should be suspended from trading except to unwind positions for clients until better controls are implemented.
Rogue Traders and Poor Controls are possible only through poor supervision and risk management.
I bet every firm globally is running this acid test today (not in production)to see if they capable of this type of event, if they didnt code around it already...perfect timing-end of year and performance reviews/bonus.
