  1. Jump on a LEAP chair! on Best Chair For Desktop Coding? · · Score: 1

I was lucky enough to get a LEAP chair at work.. and a year later, I went out an bought one for my home office (I work from home 2-3 days a week now). For me, it gives more solid support than an Aeron, has all the adjustments I need, and is just a solid, comfortable chair for long days in front of a computer. Highly recommended.

Wonder if the site promotes plagiarism, like Psychology Today and Christianity Today promote their topical namesakes?

  3. I dunno... on Gaming at the Geritol Age · · Score: 1
I started playing pinball in grade school, and video games seemed (and still seem) a natural progression for someone who enjoys hand-eye coordination games in a more controlled (and less judgemental) environment than was typical of the baseball and basketball jock-oriented team environments that were part of my youth.

I still enjoy playing FPS and sim games at 55. I'm not good ... but good enough to enjoy myself. I'd like to think that continued practice at realtime decision making is good mental exercise.. and I know for sure that it's a lot more fun than teaching myself French (which I also suck at).

I don't know if any of my peers also play.. I don't mention it, and assume they wouldn't either.

Excuse me.. Call of Duty 2 is beckoning...

  4. Re:Good idea but not in England on Ramp Creates Power As Cars Pass · · Score: 1

Seems like a good possibility for places without ready access to power mains. I'd think the maintenance required for a mechanical device embedded in a roadway would offset any power bills for the traffic authority pretty quickly.. unless it was really expensive to get power to the traffic control device (or sign or whatever). There are definitely places in England and other parts of the UK where this could be very useful.

It also seems to me that the "stealth gas tax" imposed by driving over the device would be pretty hard to detect for most any individual driver.
