Firstly, reconsider going to the office. Work from home a couple of days a week, and offset your day (or slice into chunks) and communicate via IM - use the presence feature for overlap.
Use a wiki for state info so you can operate asynchronously. Make sure you collate questions for the overlap period, or to mutual day ends.
This way time skew can work in your favour I you ask for help as you stop work and have a solution waiting for you next morning.
