Definitely agree. This wasn't about why Vista is such a let-down of an OS as much as a single user's complaints about why it's different from XP. I'm really tired of hearing all these complaints about how Vista sucks because of a bunch of personal dislikes about what they changed/took out/moved since XP. Don't like Microsoft's new OS, then put your money behind something else. Don't buy from Circuit City, go online to Dell/HP/Lenovo, etc. where you can still buy an XP machine. Buy a Mac and go that direction, or switch to Linux and donate some cash to your favorite distro and tell them what you want in upcoming releases. I've been using Vista since the Beta/RC days, and would never go back to XP after, but that's my personal opinion, it's not that XP sucks comparatively. I really wish we'd stop seeing all this kind of press, and maybe see some real arguments for/against Vista.
It's good to see there's some flame bait for the Mac fanboys on slashdot to chew on for a while. It's hillarious to see the responses:
"They would have to download a.dmg file, mount it, install the app, and then give the admin password. Who does that?"
as if this is some HUGE hurdle to jump over to get infected. You might as well say in order to get infected on a Windows box, first you actually have to PLUG IN your ethernet cable, or even connect to a wireless network. Then you have to actually TURN THE MACHINE ON!
Is it so unreasonable to expect that with the Mac user base a) growing and b)consisting for the most part of people who don't want to have to worry about malware that most of these users wouldn't think twice about having to go through these steps?
I just hope they stop with the no-viruses-on-mac ads soon, as their bluff will soon be called.
BAH HA HA HA!
OH...Damn, thats hilarious.
Are they serious? 235 patents? On what? Do they want to be laughed out of a court room? Microsoft Lawyer:"Yes, and they infringe on our patent of a pointy thing that moves across the screen when moving a 'mouse' attached to the machine. We call it a 'cursor'... " What could you possibly have patented that would account for 235 separate occurrences in FOSS?
Oh Microsoft and their FUD slinging. Remind me to delete my Vista partition and make my machine full Ubuntu ASAP. Those clowns are through with my business.
I have to say I currently work at the local Geek Squad to earn my way through school. It comes down t a few things. First and foremost it comes down to which location you go to and whom you talk to when you're there. I like to think we're one of the better shops in our area, as we get a lot of people who flat out refuse to go to the others due to poor services rendered. I have seen them leave out drivers when reloading OSs and completely botch things up, etc. and fixed them the CORRECT WAY. Second is the fact that we work for Best Buy. We can't fix a lot of the things we'd like to in house because they won't let us. Anything that's a hardware problem that isn't some card or drive or something you can buy off the shelf is sent out because we don't have the parts to fix it and have no way of getting them. Thirdly most of the people we get through who literally have no clue what they're doing. People get pissed at us when they buy their $2000 system and then call me and have no idea how to move files into separate folders. I literally walked a guy through dragging and dropping his pictures into a folder over the phone. If you can't do that why did you even buy the thing? Lastly is the fact that when we do send things to our service centers half the time they come back and have been worked on by complete idiots and have notes like "cleaned fan and tested bench ok" and can't do anything about it but send it back.

Any Anti-virus program that has a pirate themed skin is good in my book.
Too true, too true.
Good call.
