There are about 10 North Americans living on my floor (out of about 25 people). I'm in Quebec, so half of them have French as their first language. McGill, my school, is consistantly ranked #1 for race and class relations by the princeton review. That said, people self-segregate. I have friends from China, India, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Japan, Quebec and plenty of other places. My girlfriend is Polish. But Chinese people study with other chinese people, Arabic speakers study with other Arabic speakers and so on. Depending on how long people have lived in Canada/America the same often applies to social circles. My lab partner is from Quebec and went to McGill to brush up on his English. But he had to pass a fluency test to get in. So if he wasn't already passably fluent, he wouldn't be my lab partner. And that's a good thing because we can't do our labs without communicating. Getting the idea?
so what happens to my pens around a magnet strong enough to lift 2 tons of elevator cargo? will it push up my belt buckle and give me one nasty melvin? my building has a hydraulic lift elevator, its slow but i dont have to worry about this stuff.
so if plumbing had never been invented but the government had paid for it we'd have it anyway? try to see the whole story. trickle-down is a real effect, even if its not the best tax policy.
ive heard of experiments with hammering photon-sentive grids into faulty eyes. the great thing about the brain is if you give it any input it will figure out how to use it (no external signal processing necessary). so there is some potential for simply converting light into into electical currrents on a faulty eye and letting the brain and nerves figure the rest out. if they could amplify the signal with a device powered by nanobatteries that approach might work better.
They should run COMPLETELY in the background and update automatically without the user's knowledge. This is the only way to completely and properly secure a vulnerable windows box.
just what i need, windows automatically changing my file associations and taskbar preferences without even telling me.
"Anytime something new comes out, you can break it down into its base components and claim it's nothing new."
It's called the periodic table.
and when they find a new element its just more protons and neutrons stuck onto the same old nuclei
polariods...dont they make polariod film with postcard markings on the back? i think i'd prefer the old-fashioned way so it can be viewed more than 100 times and the color pallet looks right from all angles. i dont see why lcd technology is an improvement at all.
i agree, what would you do when your ipod-phone-pacemaker-toaster watch broke? am i the only who finds that electronic devices have a life of about 3 years? i like to keep them on different cycles so if my phone dies, at least i can listen to music.
so keep the usb/firewire capability and use that for the big transfers. if you change/add a song or an album at a time, bluetooth can handle it. one big transfer with a wire, then no more. sounds great to me.
apple is trying to do with the mp3 market. apple and google both enjoy legions of fanboys and generally high consumer trust. the cell phone market has a lot of rough edges; shady billing practices (in canada, i have to pay for detailed billing), unclear service agreements, contracts that are only available to new customers, etc. apple will probably offer a very clean service that costs more but is easier to understand without a law degree.
canadians are the only ones who put up a fuss in english. they really dont mind as much as south-americans. i've only heard the "i'm an american too" rant from south-americans. what canadians do mind being is confused with the US. ive been living in canada for 2 years, they call us "americans."
why bother building the robots? lets have GWB, Tony, Rummy, Osama, Saddam and Jaques sit down to a nice game of CS: Source.
One doesn't put songs "on BitTorrent"
someone has to make a torrent file and post it on a HTTP server. stop being a pretentious douche.
but surely you can recognize that the average user would rather have it enabled and isnt very good with program preferences

What prevents black people from going to their schools? What prevents them from drinking from their water fountains?
Did you just compare localized servers to segragation? I think I know a few civil rights types who would like to have a word with you.
Why wouldn't they just get 5 players in china to play together, split the spoils?
because then they get 1/5 the loot. taken much math?

places that are too small to afford electronic machines still use those. i worked at a mall kiosk, thats all we had.
