I have been under the impression that this has been happening for some time with *all* the "search engines" (aka portals) on the web. After all, a lot of money goes into the maintanance of the "internet" (or as MCI/WorldCom/UUNet calls it "our network"). Who should get the most speed and most desirable routing? Those who pay or those who don't. The bottom line... someone has to pay. Although the internet is touted as being free, all of this stuff cost lots of money to run... not othat I agree with any of this preferential treatment stuff, of course. Look where the best streets are. In the expensive neighborhood. Why? That's where the tax $ and the influence comes from. Not that I agree with anyof this preferential treatment stuff either.
