Google News is still way below what it should be

Their screening process for new entries is a little... biased. They'll let Landover Baptist (a virulently anti-Christian parody site) and some Neo-Nazi group get their content added, but wouldn't add Michelle Malkin, a blogger who is a professional journalist, get added because she "doesn't have an editorial staff."
I personally have little use for Malkin, but I cannot help but wonder about the people who turn her down, but let the kissing cousins of the National Alliance and Stormfront get indexed instead. Little Green Footballs was rejected for the same reason.
By now, you'd think that they'd have a customized service where you could create your own personalized Google News which allows only certain sources, allows you to add your own sources to categories so you can triple the size of one category, etc.
Why do they need to really log what you are doing? Surely they could create a profile about you by using an initial 3 months of search data, delete all of the search records and periodically tweak it. They don't need to record all of your searches for the rest of your life, all they need is to build and tweak your advertising profile.
Of course this does expose a fundamental flaw of modern capitalism that I as a libertarian will admit is real: there is no alternative here. Everyone is doing it, probably even the wannabe Googles that have.05% of the market. It's looking more and more like the Internet will not be a stronghold of liberty in general, but rather just freedom of speech.
And this is different from going out in public and shouting down a conversation or trying to shut down a protest that you disagree with, how? These crackers are brown shirts, not heros.
In old school government thinking, you're not supposed to "get rich off the government" as an employee. The government would often rather spend $2B for a stealth bomber that carries nuclear bombs, but will pinch pennies on the salary of the pilot of the bomber. The reality is that it costs the tax payers less to pay $80,000 starting out for a qualified security official, and let them retire making $200-$250K/year than it does to hire a less competent one at $45,000/year. The better qualified, better paid one will be more effective if not hampered by management and more crimes will get punished, reducing the reward for crimes of this nature, thus decreasing the amount of money that has to be spent on prison and other costs in the long run.
Ultimately, you get what you pay for is a fundamental law of life. If you're not willing to pay well, the people that have the skills won't sign up for the job unless the economy is dying and they're desperate.
The CC processors are why they cannot make more profit on $1.00 downloads. If they'd work with Apple to create a new processing company that charges $0.05/song, there'd be much more profit... around and extra $0.25/song to go around.
