According to the History Channel Doomsday specials,
the Mayan calendar shows the end of the Earth to occur on December 21, 2012.
In the show, pets go nuts and attack their owners. Computers and home appliances began to attack; an iron "presses" someone, a toaster eats a hand, and a guy was killed by all of the home office equipment.
But the best part was the Christmas Tree (or Holiday Tree) which comes to life and attacks.
In the event the suit is cut, torn, or punctured,
one simply cuts the arm off a nearby Borg drone,
and uses some of the cabling from the Borg to tie off the suit.
Then proceed with whatever activities outside the safety of the space vehicle
(i.e. shooting an interplexing beacon).
Imagine if Microsoft would someday decide to introduce this "feature" to say office...
