The free market doesn't apply to farming. I grew up on a farm and we were only alowed to use so much of our land for tabbaco and other crops the other land had to be left alone or some type of replinishment crop clould be sown such as soy or alf-alfa.
Farming is a hard and unrewarding way of life that is slowly ending in america. Selling steril seeds shows how hopless the situation is for the family farmer. In a hundred years small family farms will be a thing of the past no one needs to accelerate this trend.
For a significant amount of time now the US has been officially metric. I think several decades. The public just hasn't accepted it yet, but change is coming soon. Now close to where I live (KY) some of the interstate signs have been showing up with both English and metric units.
While all this metric conversion stuff makes sense, but I'm really going to miss units like the hogshead(unit of volume).
