How are patents anti-capitalism when the very basis of capitalism is protection or private property? Is IP not property? Capitalists are very much in favor of private property and the forces necessary to help preserve what is yours (courts, police, army).
wow, Castro would be proud. Please go live there and test out your theory instead of trying to bring it here.
Replace corporation with government and you might be closer.
there is no public good. things you want i may or may not want to pay for. just because 51% of the people want something does not mean it should be done. if an entity can't survive without people being forced to pay for it then it shouldn't survive. I don't care if its NASA or the Opera or Microsoft.
Those countries' governments are completely dysfunctional and in most cases centrally planned (which will always fail). The problem is not with land or food production, but with distribution and market interference. There is a reason the US has plenty of food and sub-saharan africa doesn't.
Because no one is trying to tell me what light bulbs to use or car to drive based on the debate of dark matter/energy.
Global Warming has become the socialists latest grab for power, but the tide is slowly turning.
The same progress that allows us to live 100+ years now vs the 30 of just a few hundred years ago is what pollutes and destroys and eventually cleans up and recovers. You can't pick and choose as no one has that foresight. So you either slow progress in the name of protection or you progress and deal with the side effects as they come.
For me, i'll take progress and a little pollution that we will no doubt be able to handle. The world hasn't come close yet to ending because of us.
your argument against Ron Paul is completely illogical. To paraphrase: If he won the election (majority or almost majority of popular vote) he would then be nullified by a statist congress. Who elects these congress people? Who are they representing? Oh that's right, the people who elect them and vote. So if people want Ron Paul they would obviously want representatives who share the same ideas. Saying that a majority of the country would want ron paul but then keep electing representatives in direct conflict with their choice of president is moronic.
How else do you expect to get things to change (real change) in this country? By electing the same statists who promise nothing but the status quo?
smooth, all i can look at are his past votes while being a congressman. He is a strict constitutionalist and against most/all federal government oversight/regulation. He understands that 99% of the time the federal government gets involved it does a poor job. He does not put his personal beliefs before upholding the constitution. Could he suprise us? Sure, but I'd be willing to bet he wouldn't.
Actually, he is only personally against it and only rightfully wants to remove the federal government from either side of the debate. He wants it to be a state or local issue, not a federal government issue.
And while i am personally pro-choice I think i can understand why Dr. Paul, an ob-gyn who's delivered 4000+ babies, is personally pro-life. Don't let one issue (non-issue?) keep you from thinking about the rest of his platform.

there is nothing wrong with being selfish, you have been brainwashed into being afraid of putting yourself first. It is human/animal nature. Just don't harm others in the pursuit of making yourself happy. How hard is that to understand?
john galt anyone?
what do you mean by maintaining? Most people hate dealing with javascript for the reason that it is highly unmaintainable, and that would seem to be GWT's main advantage. Java developers doing Java, not html/javascript.
