One manager was really bothered by "my bad", which used to be "my mistake". He called it "gang slang". "My bad" has slipped into common usage it seems to me. I'll avoid it around him, but he came across as a fuddy-duddy. He should be thankful people admit their mistakes, something uncommon around here.
waste billions on an inefficient rocket for which there is no commercial demand -- as NASA is doing with SLS (under orders from a wasteful Congress)
Putin is indeed cocky, but our Congress takes the cake.
Why do we have to launch big loads all at once? Launch a booster first, and then have the payload rendezvous with it in orbit. It may take some R&D and practice to get right, but it seems the more logical way to handle big projects instead of supporting bigass rockets and launch platforms that are not used enough to pay their rent.
Plus, having a spare in place is easier with commodity rockets.
I'm using Windows 7 and sometimes I see goofy overlaps also on slashdot. CSS positioning sucks, I have concluded.
Bring Tables back. Nobody ever gets CSS positioning right. I've seen just about every big web company F them up. Tables "degrade" better. (And I'm not just saying that because of my handle).
Social awareness can be objectively measured and analyzed to a fair extent. But, you didn't do any of that, expecting the reader to just take your word for it. I expect more specifics from Slashdot readers. Notion-y impressionistic debates one can get from the non-educated.
And it's not about just "one reason", it's about a non-IT-expert balancing tradeoffs (real or perceived) of multiple factors. A decision like that rarely considers JUST one factor.
I think what you have is the ability to rationalize what you like by hiding it behind vague, unverifiable notions such as "common sense". Good Day, Sir.
No, I don't know why you classify it as "common sense". I have no clue as to what computations or logic steps your brain takes to classify and/or conclude such is "common sense".
I would note that web searches of "common sense" don't turn up anything definitive, just definitions that depend on other vague words, or widely varying opinions about how common sense comes about and what it is in terms of a body of knowledge. It seems a fuzzy, overloaded, and objective term.
I suggest you philosophize more about "common sense" if you want to communicate your usage of it here.
Damn, everything's on the Interwebs. Should've known: in the late 90's I once googled (Lycosed?) "Lego porn" as a joke (honestly), and was surprised to find it existed.
Sorry, I'm not fully understanding your point. Understanding the difference between such in terms of ownership; and understanding the trade-offs in terms of law, loss-risk, hackers, etc. are different levels of understanding and domain knowledge.
Inspiring? Oh my! It's an inspiracy!
no, then Men in Black coem adn baet teh stars out of yuo, and yuo cant' tpye wroth a dman forr monhts. Turst mme o n thsi.
Single letters make a difference there too: It's "Moronism".
No, to cut costs they outsourced it to India, which outsourced it to Elbonia, which then outsourced it to Iran.
then just run UnStuxnet

Hey, I am not hairless, Gorn!

The steamroller look has steamrolled the industry.
Oh, I always give tons of feedback when using Windows. But I am polite enough not to save it.

No, that's Slashdud
I'm guess I'm just too much of the Asperger type: I think in terms of logic, analytical reductionism, and the scientific process.
If "common sense" is the kind that kind thing that tells one which Kardashian sister is more fashionable, then I indeed lack it.

Well, how can we objectively measure what is "common sense" for this little debate here?
Where does "common sense" originate from regarding email and servers and organization IT tendencies and hacker behavior, abilities, trends, etc?

Perhaps in the US, but what about in other countries?
That's okay, traditional watch makers can just switch to making mechanical smart-phones, a wide open niche.
