ok, and if someone pays me 10K, I now have 9K in profit, so I can buy a bigger truck or new tools, and build a bigger house that is costlier than before. I can now grow my business, and hire people to work for me (and putting money in their hands)
Long story short, supply and demand work. If someone wants to pay me XX for something that costs me XX/10 no one should have a problem with that.
In their view social programs are bad for poor people, as poor people deserve to be poor
I dont think it works quite that way
Lets look at it like this. I cant tell you how many friends I have who lost their jobs over the past few years, myself included. Some of them sat on unemployement for the entire time they could collecting their 400 bucks a week, as soon as the check ran out, they all manage to get a job the next week. Kind of fishy dont you think?
If the government is giving people enough to get by, they lose the motivation to better themselves and get stuck in a rut.
Im in no way saying remove the security blanket, simply we need to find a way to teach people to fish again, instead of just giving them bread
how do you know race has anything to do with it? If I lived in an area that was nice, and it turned to shit for whatever reason, im gonna find a better place. Racebaiters are worse than racists these days
thanks, I will check that out and see if i can contribute anything. I got my stuff from a school that was throwing it all away so i wouldnt be surprised if i dont have some obscure stuff
you are correct. I keep them in a climate controlled area, but id say 1 out of 10 that I try are corrupt. Its a shame but I just cant bring myself to throw it all away eventhough the truth is they are 100% useless, even if they work in todays world
I currently have a dresser full of over 2000 C64/128 disks , system tools, etc. I have 2 working 64s 2 broken 64 and a working 128. I play with them from time to time but its so much work to keep them up and running (the 2 broken ones are used for parts these days) I wouldnt hate on this
good for you. I dont understand why people dont think about things logically. My next move will include a paycut, but the cost of living in NC is so much lower than in NY, that my money in my pocket will get me further down there. truth is I moved about 15 miles further from my job, so it takes me an extra 10 minutes to get to work, I guess we could cut 15 bucks a week out to cover the increased cost of gas. I know this is not as easy for others to do but where there is a will there is a way. I wouldnt take a job in NYC for less than 120 grand these days( I live an hour north of NYC give or take and I do not work in the city)
so move somewhere where you can get a 2K foot home for under 900 a month like I did, I doubled my pay eventhough it stayed the same simply by moving, and i moved into a larger home to bat
I would, simply because people learn at different rates and different ways. I dropped out of college after 3 semesters, best decision ive ever made. now it wasnt all flowers and roses but I learned more in the next 4 years actually working and researching things on my own then they were ever going to teach me in school.
Lets look at it like this, If person A can come up with the same results, but put forth half the effort as person B, why shouldnt person A be paid more? (or have to work less hours for the same pay?)
Bottom line: keep your social opinions to a personal level and keep them out of a professional environment. You can make all the legal arguments you want.
Agreed fully. Which is why no one should even know he made the donation to begin with. He didnt try and fire any gay people did he? He didnt say they were no longer hiring gay people did he? if not, then leave the man alone
and removing the government from the equation is also wanting equality, the only difference is that removing the government from the equation will mean that the R and D will have one less topic to talk about to keep the masses occupied while they commit their crimes
I think the point was remove those benifits, they are unequal anyway, against single people. Why should married people have benifits that single people cant have? I mean in my head, bringing the single people into the argument is the best way for gay people to get what they want as us single people are being discriminated against equally with the gay community
can we stop using the term privilege for everyone we dont like? It one, is not accurate, Me being white and male , and straight have no special privileges over anyone else, In fact id have more privilege if i were a minority or a woman in the eyes of the government in todays world. 100 years ago you may have been correct but we are living in the now. I cant tell you how many grants that are out there that are ONLY for women or ONLY for women of color. but there are no grants available to ONLY white people or ONLY males.. In the eyes of the government, in 2014, white males are treated as second class citizens.
without context sure those things sound reasonable but lets spin it a bit shall we?
If I contribute 1000 to rid the nusence wildlife ruining peoples yards and homes, its ok, If I donate 1000$ to the cause of forcing people to leave so that the panda can claim your home, its not ok
contribute to ensuring everyone gets a vote, and only 1 vote is ok, contributing to ensure people dont have to prove their are american to vote is not ok
right, because they would in no way be spinning it as to avoid legal recourse right? Now what is there might very well be the truth, but the way this whole thing has played out, color me skeptical
Not just anyone can become president, either. You can, however, smoke crack and still be a mayor.
maybe you cant smoke crack and be president, but you sure as hell can sniff coke! , before entering politics, that he had used marijuana and cocaine ("maybe a little blow"). He said he had not tried heroin because he did not like the pusher who was trying to sell it to him.
today people think its ok to treat "the rich" as "lower class people" Just look at all the assholes in san fran attacking tech workers and slashing tires and whatnot. The way I understand it is that it is not ok to "hate" black, brown, asian, gay, women, it IS ok to "hate" straight, white, male, rich

so I shouldnt be allowed to make what someone is willing to spend?
crime is bigger in inner cities - FACT
You can take that to mean what you wish. but the facts are simple, inner cities are a problem.

Thank you for the links. I knew of some of them but not gamebase, Ill be checking that out tonight

you know what sickens me? people who accuse others of bigotry, racism, and homophobia without having any proof to back it up.
voting for prop 8 while it may be wrong to some people, does not make him a homophobe. I highly doubt he is afraid of gay people.
which is more respectable than someone who just says what they think people want to hear do you not agree?

no, there is not, either we are equal, or we are not. I am sick of this "well some people need extra equality" bullshit

without seeing internal communications (which if brought to trial would come up) you are correct. But lets be real here, he was forced out
