According to research by UC Davis's Jonathan Hughes, Christopher Knittel and Daniel Sperling, Americans are now less responsive to increases in gas prices.
If there was alternatives then it could happen, why there isn't any change is because there is no real useful alternative to fossil fuels.
And why with histrionics?
anyway people can carry on a conversation without getting emotional about it?!
Increase taxes on fossil fuel, lower taxes on income,
It's been proven that increasing the cost of fossil fuels has no effect on consumption of fossil fuels, people still need to travel and need electricity to warm and power their homes and computers and business. What will happen is that it will take money away from other things, people will cut back on discretionary spending and other things to help pay for their fuel. This obviously keeps a damper on the economy and prevents growth and eventually prevents new innovations.
All humor aside, This system would work well on the moon and asteroids. It could be a low cost method to launch refined metals and materials to earth enabling near earth colonization!
I personally want more research and development specially in the area of space research!
But how to pay for it? we are already borrowing as much as taxes bring in to the Federal Government. That unsustainable.
For several large IT project at the State agency level, I can safely say that the bidding process for an RFP is to the lowest bidder, not the best bidder. Also they make it easier for certain companies to be on the bidding process ie. cronyism. So really the state ends up with what it asks for. Most large IT project fail because of these reasons.
As soon as they can fire the first rocket, they need to gather ALL the members of the New Mexico Trial Lawyers Association and load them up and shoot them into orbit...forever or until they burn up in the atmosphere.
Stalin is the end result of socialism and which it decays too. Typically there are two scales one with Socialism where Communism and Fascism are at either end of the scale, for the free-market or better known as freedom scale there is anarchy and authoritarianism.
If we put society over the individual, we will always slide into some form of despotism/dictatorship/oligarchy, the old saying goes, "absolute power corrupts absolutely". When you have the few controlling the majority that's bound to happen at least as history shown us. Maybe there should be a saying "all roads of socialism lead to Stalin"?!?
"Stalin was right wing also, and most likely Mao was too. Despite the appeal to collectivism, both were strong authoritarians who created a new ruling class to replace the old. That makes them right wing"
Really? this a new one, So Barrack Obama is a Right winger too, since he's very authoritarian. By your definition there is no Left wing.
I'm not debating what you're saying, I know that their are a lot on the left who believe in out and out lying and demonizing the other side to (try) shut them up.It's just that I also know there are still RHINO's that abound as well.
As societies grow decadent, the language grows decadent, too. Words are used to disguise, not to illuminate, action: you liberate a city by destroying it. Words are to confuse, so that at election time people will solemnly vote against their own interests.
I read his novels back in the 70's. He truly was one of the greats! He will be missed!
Seriously though, a open source is a loose collection of people who have come together to work on a project/software, no real formal structure.

Give or take a century or two, sure is!

And yet you think Mr. Obama and his troop plans on paying for anything yet???
GDF-11 works the same way in humans as it does in mice.
Well I can't help think that some countries are tempted to go to war with the U.S just so they could have one of those free nation building promo's.
But a Federal Reserve bubble, money is cheap, so companies will spend it on somethings (but not as much as compared to a strong economy).
Destroy countries? The U.S is the only country in the world that when it wins a war then rebuilds the country they attacked!

Thank goodness for Fox News, considering watching the video Slate got it wrong, but hey it's not the first time!
Um Okay, think you got the wrong guy. But hey don't mind jumping to the wrong conclusion just for me.
The country's owners is the Federal Government. The citizens are clueless sheep who will do what the Fed tell them to do on MSNBC,CNN, etc.
The real question is - can we then jettison that portion of politicians which aren't (failed or otherwise) lawyers?
Depends on if they actually have been useful in their position, with a qualifier that if they are a career politician that's an automatic jettison.

I would make that for ALL lawyers.

So the Progressive Democrat party is to far right? what does that make you Stalin? Mao?
