Kuro5hin only came up on my radar a few weeks ago, but I've been visiting it daily since. It just filled a hole that/. was lacking; there was a real community, not just a bunch of people posting comments.
But I don't think it was very wise to put:
To the person or persons responsible for this: we will find you. You will be sorry. I hope you'll learn something.
at the end of the message. This is going to piss whoever did this even more, and probably get them even more worked up. People who enjoy doing this are not resonable, rational people who care for the good of others.
If k5 ever comes back again, it'll probably get taken down by this person again.
The more I read it, the stupider I think Microsoft really are.
If they really want the government to take them seriously, they need to compromise. I mean, their proposal basically says "fuck you, we want it all our way..."
I would of thought that if they had even half a brain, then they would try to make some subtle changes, that would allow them to use some nice loophole a few years later.
But it's obvious to even me, who understands shit all in legal-speak, that they aren't trying to to change at all.
Come on - make it look like you're trying compromise and maybe, just maybe, the changes will get accepted...
On second thoughts, DON'T! It would be better if MS was blown up into a billion pieces.
I became a fan on Anime while I was in Japan, and the only way to watch Anime is in Japanese. The english voice-overs are terrible. Sure, it helps to understand Japanese, but if you can't, theres always subtitles.
Akira is one example, but I haven't seen an English Anime yet that I thought was worthy of voices behind them...
That said though, half the Japanese Anime have pretty shit voices behind them, but they are at least better than the English.
The one I hate most is the "girl-who-is-always-screaming-voice"... The most recent Anime that I've watched that's got it is Neon Genesis Evangelion, but it's in just about all Anime's that you see.
This is something that I can't understand either. MD seem to have a lot of possibilities, but nobody is taking advantage of them.
I just came back from japan, where MD has almost taken over from CD as the audio format of choice, and I wish that the rest of the world went the same.
The biggest problem with CD's is that they're not robust - they've gotta be kept in the case, no fingerprints, scratches etc. - I want to be able to throw a CD on the pile when I'm finished listening to it.
I've heard that the data transfer speeds aren't too crash hot, but they definetly still have uses. They could become the next 3 1/2" floppy
I do not doubt that the majority of slashdot readers are more enlightened than most Americans.
I also do not doubt that there are opposing points of view - I never even implied there was, but, the majority of Americans do not understand the internationism going on in the world today.
I have spent time in a number of countries, Japan, the UK, and a number in Europe, and they all seemed more 'globally aware' than the US. Given the postition of the US, it is twice as important to be more globally aware. It is that fact that is the most annoying, having to watch the Americans, thinking that they are the be-all, and end-all of the world.
To a degree, my arguement is flawed - my real problem is with the other countries that put up with so much crap from the America. But it'd be nice to see both change
This is happening a lot more recently. It is easy to avoid. Every bit of code that I use from somewhere else, I check.
I think that the real situation is that they use the code and 'forget about it' until they get picked up, and then conviently apologise and put on a good show for the public.
The real question though, is how much more of this is there going on that we don't see or hear about?
I mean no nothing personally against anyone, but I am angry at a lot Americans, from their lack of respect, and lack of consideration of the outside world. But I am more angry at fellow Australians who let our country get influenced so much by America. I think it's something that's overlooked a lot by most Americans. The ability to critically evaluate America is something lacking with Americans.
I'm getting a bit off topic here, so I'll get to the point. America has a lot of world power. If they set their minds on getting this lyrics server shut down, they probably will.

A real pity.
