Better off does not = cheaper. Ive seen a lot of small offices, law firms, etc spend too much money for lousy service and poor response time from 3rd party support.
May not always be the case, but depending on what he does this may not be a good idea.
I'll give you Lotus, but not WP. Word was almost always better than WP while Excel beat Lotus by being an adequate clone bundled with office. Excel beat Lotus on the back of the success of Word.
Dollhouse is on Fox isnt it? If it makes it through the 1st season, I'll catch up on the DVD release. I'm tired of trying Fox shows only to have the rug yanked after a few episodes.
You overstate your case. A PIII 733 does not run Xp well. Hell I've got an old dual PIII with a gig of ram that gets choked up sometimes (admittedly ususally due to flash heavy webpages).
You've got a nearly 10 year old machine there. Its 2 processor generations old now, more depending how you count. I do not think its fair or reasonable to expect it to run a new OS like when you brought it home.
For an OS thats constantly beating up the competition for being buggy and failure prone Leopard is not stable enough. My Macbook pro was rock solid with Tiger, but not Leopard. It crashes, it doesn't shut down, it doesn't wake up, etc.
Some of the features and improvements are cool, but not worth the bugs. I almost want to go back to Tiger.
They probably want to do that but cant. They have to offer NTSC signal until at least 2012. Until theres more tuner card and Media Center support for QAM, i hope it stays that way. I like my Media Center and loathe the possibility of it not recording cable after 2012.
Exactly. Sometimes it seems like they wont be happy until were living in caves and eating berries. Or extinct. Cant hurt the environment if were extinct.
This is why they have trouble making headway. People just roll their eyes at the "crazy treehuggers" even though their basic motives are admirable.
Blu-Ray has a larger capacity, but the 1st several releases suffered from bad transfers and use of old MP2 compression. The extra space allowed them to be lazy.
The HD-DVD releases tended to haver much better picture quality for whatever reason. Whether it was due to better scanning, better post processing, or use of the VC1 codec, I'm not sure.
Since Blue ray seems to be prevailing I hope that this is old news and no longer the case.
I didn't start the futile comparison, I only corrected an inaccurate one. I believe our positions are actually closer than you might think. You're right: PSOnline is not Live and doesn't try to be. My personal opinion is that being more like Live would be a better user experience, but then again I like Live. But people who compare the prices of the services like to pretend there's feature parity, and thats just not the case.
Their open system does have its advantages. MMOG devs certainly seem to prefer the freedom. Burnout Paradise works a little better on the PS3 because the Xbox blade system doesn't bring you out of the "drive through the city" menu metaphor.
My apologies if I overreacted to your comment. Ive just been reading about folks complaining about this Live outage and I'm tired of it. They just sound like a bunch of whiners. MS fucked up, but they addressed the issue and tried to make up for it. If people are bothered that much they are free not to re-subscribe. But its not like nothing was done or the problem was ignored completely.
Ho Ho! You've cleverly pointed out that their service is not infallible. There have been some problems lately but this is the first time the service has had any prolonged problem in 5 years, and it was never down completely.
They had a problem with the system, they endeavored to fix it, they offered recompense.
Dedicated servers, only if the developer offers them and can be terminated at their whim. You can still play Mechassault for the original Xbox on Live, more than 5 years later.
A system so open that there is no system. Its all up to the developer. Some do it well and some don't, and theres no oversight or requirements.
No universal access to the system from within games. To send or look at messages you have to leave a game and go to the main PS3 screen (whatever they call their dashboard)
Do they have a unified friends list yet? I'm truly not sure.
The problem with PS3 online is its too much like PS2 online: there isn't any strategy really. You may balk at the paltry Live fee, but you get what you pay for.
I recently reverted back to IE6 on my Media Center. I spent hours making my mp3 collection platform agnostic by embedding the album art into the file. Much to my horror MCE stopped showing the album art. Turns out for some crazy reason IE7 affects how album art is displayed - it shows as black if the eart is embedded. Doesn't seem to affect Media Player 11 or Vista.
This is no more misinformation than "Consoles are just PC gaming lite and are for kids and retarded monkeys"
Like I said - they each have their place, and each has their drawback.
Yes you too can play a small fraction of available games. There's also the "constant hardware upgrade" metagame. wooo!
Each game platform has its place, they are not substitutes for each other.
Up until recently the clock didn't display to the user. Even now its only a clock and not a calendar.

Bender: And so I ask you this one question: Have you ever tried simply turning off the TV, sitting down with your children, and hitting them?
Hes not talking High def. Hes talking about an entire season of SD content on one disk. Its not a bad idea.
Or people could teach their kids some responsibility. You dont take care of your crap, them you dont have it to play.
Kids used to have records - its not impossible to keep things clean/safe.
So what you're saying is that iPhone security is so poor they *have* to bind it up for our protection. They could call it the iPwn.
Its a good thing there's not a "mobile windows" or it would be the end of cellular service as we know it!
I assumed he was referring to his daughter. Hence the teaching personal accountability.

I agree. "A man's gotta know his limitations" =)
God, when the the internet become a resource heavy app? Its a little sad.

Nonsense. Anytime theres a problem with the code its because you forgot a semicolon.
Every one knows that.

Sprints data plan is pretty reasonable. its less than half of what ATT or Verison charge for data.
But they cold have "backronymed" it again and used the old floppy definition of HD - High Density.
But i guess its not going to matter anymore.
Glad to hear it. Now that this silly war is over I can get some HD goodness for my TV.
You're misinformed, the GP is correct.

When was the last time Sony admitted a mistake?
