  1. Flowering Cicada? on Bizarre Self-Destructing Palm Tree Found · · Score: 1

So, essentially, it is the Cicada of plant species.

  2. Both are right....it is the time that is the wrong on Texas Creationist Museum Facing Extinction · · Score: 2, Interesting

I think I figured it out. Both are right - the Creationists and the Evolutionary followers. I argue only about the time scale. Assuming both are right, that is, life is 6000 years old and 4 billion years old, how can it be? It is possible if the scale of time, that is, how long is a year?, how is a second measured?, different from each other. If you take the time taken by the Milky Way to rotate once around its axis as a year (why not?), well, then the Earth is, sorry for the pseudorandom number, 10 years old. Taking the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the caesium-133 atom as one second is JUST ONE WAY of defining time. I hope this solves all the misunderstanding.

  3. Legal Immigration Issues contribute too on State of US Science Report Shows Disturbing Trends · · Score: 2, Insightful

The problem also lies with legal immigration. As someone with experience in and published a thesis on control systems, I find it impossible to get a dream job without having at least a Greencard. The problem is applying for a Greencard will rob me of at least, at least 5K$ if not about 10K$ (all about the right lawyer, you see). After that, comes the waiting game. How long? About 4 years at least! Longer, normally. So you see, after a couple of years, I am thinking! Heck! Screw this. I am going home. After all research opportunities are much better than what they used to be a decade ago. This reverse brain drain (Trust me, the home country has been lamenting about brain drain for decades) is going to further affect the R&D scope here.

  4. Switch to Netflix on Can Blockbuster be Sued Over Facebook/Beacon? · · Score: 1

Blockbuster's "new and improved" website is a mess. They have decided to add interactive features on the site. However, each time the mouse points at a movie title, it insists on pulling up everything about the movie as a popup. This significantly slows the browsing experience. The Queue manager is so slow, it is frustrating. And to top this - Facebook widget. One of the lures of using an online DVD rental system is the ability to anonymously procure risque or adult-themed movies without feeling embarrassed by the check-out clerk. Now they want the whole Facebook universe to know that you just rented Kama Sutra - Part 4?
