They teach to (low) standards. The advanced students cannot get ahead (i.e. get bored) without spending money. The remedial students get frustrated (i.e. give up). The middle students become so accustomed to being made sure they aren't left behind, it doesn't properly prepare them for college, or the real world.
That in a nutshell, is what is wrong America public schools.
