  1. Mine was SWTPC 6800 on What Was Your First Computer? · · Score: 1

I bought a Southwest Technical Products 6800 system (1MHz) in 1977. I upgraded it using Smoke Signal Broadcasting hardware as it came out until it was 6809 based at 2MHz.

I designed and built a hard drive interface for the old SASI drives.

It still runs to this day.

  2. New DDoS router on Taking on an Online Extortionist · · Score: 1

I just use the new Browning Automatic Router (BAR). When it detects these kind of attacks it sends out a series of 9mm packets at a high rate to the servers that are attacking. When the servers are destroyed, hopefully the admins will secure the new ones better. This is much better (and cheaper) for those who have been hacked than blacklist. They learn something for only the cost of replacement.

  3. It started with a gesture on Ctrl-Alt-Del Inventor To Retire From IBM · · Score: 1

I think it is appropriate that you make the British gesture of displeasure with the left hand.

Then make the American gesture of displeasure with the right hand.

Then rootate both hands 180 degrees and press the famous keys.

  4. Some publishers are beginning to catch on. on The Satori Effect · · Score: 1

Baen books www.baen.com has some of their new books fisrt chapters online. You can also buy a subscription for the whole book, a few chapters at a time.

At least this is a step in the right direction.

  5. DCs Chairman on "Cloudy Future" For CueCat · · Score: 1

How many realized that DigitalConvergence was founded by the same Jo-vain that hosted NetTalk live. You remember the show that seemed to be saying "Are you as stupid as I am?". He took an idea that has been around at least as long as I have been on the net, and added a marketing flair to it. None of this is new. If they think that they stopped the hacker community, they didn't even slow us down. Well actually they did. Just long enough to write about their lame attempts to stop us. 6. Check for heat on Where Can I Find Cell Phone Recommendations? · · Score: 1

One problem that I had was the placement of the heatsink for the transmitter. The Nokia that I had placed the heatsink at the top by the ear piece. After about ten minutes this area gets very warm in the ear area, which can cause all kinds of problems if you listen to the brain cancer propaganda. I just bought a Motorola StarTac which has the heatsink in the lower half of the flip. It also has the upper band, so I get better connect around computer equipment. I also fits comfortably in my front pocket. When set to vibrate with ringer off, I can carry it into meetings and leave my multiply damned pager behind.
