  1. Deja Vu - But Not Like the Matrix on Deja.com Vu! · · Score: 1

No more tears in the Matrix...we are just going back to what worked. I used Deja.com all the time, and now I will again. I personally am happy to see dot coms realize that by changing business plans they are only hurting themselves. Start one, and when it works...KEEP IT

  2. Re:Error correction hurts you on Can You Back Up Data On Audio/Visual Media? · · Score: 1

I would agree with sith on this one...I have been looking into this for a departmental backup of some data in some interesting ways. Our group came to the conclusion that there must be a medium used which facilitataes the use of error correction or you aren't accomplishing anything. With a 30% failure rate on the data because there weren't those extra bits we gave up on the whole concept. If anyone has any more info on this, please drop me a line!

  3. Re:Quitcher Grumbling... on "Red Planet": Stay Here · · Score: 1

My town (approx 1.5k...yes one point five k) has a film group kinda like the one you are talking about...we got all of those movies (except Felicia's Journey) at our local theatre and I think that ONE person liked them...all of them were hideous. ESPCECIALLY East is East...I don't mean for this to be a flame, but there are few ppl who here in America understood all of the humor that was coming from these foreign films.

  4. Why not ethernet? on Turtle Beach Network Audio Appliance · · Score: 2

Don't get me wrong, I think this is a GREAT idea...Now I can use a server program versus an entire computer to do my music serving for me...but this company needed to think about the clinetel it is trying to reach with this device. Most of us (I speak of the nerds that read /. and would buy this) use an ethernet network off of cable or DSL or a LAN or something like that. I personally don't have a telephone system in my house. (You think I'm kidding, I'm not...I use a cell phone for calls.) I would LOVE to have one of these if it did come with some type of RJ45 connector.

I think this is a great idea, I'll just drop a couple of RJ11s in the wall for this...they just should have thought things through a little better as far as WHO is going to buy this and WHAT they are going to want to use!

(hee hee, check eBay in about a week for my 200+1 Sony CD changer.... =) )
