Why must it suggest members of the opposite sex? Why can't it suggest members of the same sex? I think your being a little narrow in your assumptions. If Google had sold out to the US, than yes - we are close to 1984. However, Google didn't and as individuals, its our own fault for being users of Google. Thus, we are still a bit far from 1984.
