I think the article was more to point out that they figured something out, have nfc why it works, and are aiming to change that. I don't think their point was to say "Hey look, we've got these cool screens. Anyone want one?"
the most serious criticism a customer can make is to "actually return the box. And that almost never happens."
Does anyone actually know of a store that will allow you to return software? Maybe even for cash back? The only one I know of is Babbages, and there's only one in my area at a local mall, and it's not even that big of a store. Selection is low, and what is there is 95% games, not counting the console section. These days, if it's open, the assume that you just copied it and want your money back. Who cares if the software really is crap.
Hell, I even had this problem once with hardware. I purchased a cdr from a local, large business supply chain only to have them tell me that I had likely already copied what I had want to onto a cd, and that no, they weren't going to take it back. That was an intersting fiasco. In the end, however, they took it back. Muhah.
go buy original versions of Unreal, Quake2, various other 3d shooters that were hyped, hit CNTRL-ALT-DELETE
I've end-tasked Q2 on a great number of occasions without any problem (don't play Unreal, though). Personally, I think that problem is a graphics card/driver issue. I've heard reports that voodoo3 cards can't even change process out of some 2d games, and crash the machine when one tries.
He's right about how to fix it. I've had this happen to me many times, and I simply do the same thing he suggested (pressing alt and/or control) a couple of times, and presto-booger, all better. I guess it's hard for a die-hard linux junkie to accept something so simple about Windows. Speaking of linux, I think I'm going to go play xkoules now.
