Google's revenue last year was $6B. In the recent Forture 500, let's say you combine Google revenue with Yahoo and eBay. The combined company is less than *one tenth* the 2005 revenue of Exxon ($~350B, yes billion).
Google will always be an information parlayer, though probably a pretty good one. Will it ever be the most powerful company in the US? Not in our lifetimes, if ever.
