Everybody is having trouble trying to build wap pages or more important trying to convert old html stuff into wap.

Since the java servlets are no problem in this case I'd reccomend you'd check out the WAPorizer at Dimon software.
It automatically converts html into wap and creates different wml pages for different screen sizes of the phones.
