Well, a lot of the Win98 install is upgrading a previous install. If you are doing a clean install, I guess the disaster recovery is not important, but if you have a lot of data on the hard drive that you don't want to lose (and you want to migrate to the new environment) then I guess it is pretty important.

I forgot about compilers, headers and other stuff. Does a 1 Gig install only take 15 mins? My unserstanding (and this is probably due to missing facts from the article) was that he was doing a pretty minimal install.
