You are obviously misinformed! You should have asked your government. The Michigan Gov. website (www.michigan.gov) says: "The result is a much cleaner burning fuel that is just as efficient as standard fuels."
Silly person, of course its better-- you almost committed a thought crime.
Nope--you missed the point completely!
If you want to take the easy road in life, it costs money. If you look at Microsoft or Norton and say 'that's not what I want', then you have two alternatives-- pay for it-- or figgure out how to do it! THAT IS WHERE THE FREEDOM TO STUDY part comes in. Programmers sell knowledge, so either study and learn about it-- OR PAY.
The whole concept of this 'freedom' thing is that something is being created--AND--YOU have the FREEDOM to run it, look at it, study it-- and say what the hell is that? thats stupid-- it should be done THIS WAY--change it and pass it along so somebody else can add their part. If it so happens that something that the 'unwashed masses' can use just HAPPENS TO BE CREATED ALONG THE WAY-- so be it! You have the FREEDOM to Look-Think-Study and Act. What the $%&=? else is there?
Oh Yes, the author does seem confused. He quotes the 'four freedoms' (which are: Free and open source software (FOSS) is founded on the four software freedoms: (a) freedom to run; (b) freedom to study; (c) freedom to modify; and (d) freedom to redistribute a program) and then launches into a dialog about ONLY ONE of them. The user, besides having the 'freedom to run'--also has the freedom to study the program and figgure out how to use it, which drivers are better, etc. THEN if he/she wants to, he/she can work and study on how to modify it-- not really an issue if he/she can't even get it to run!
Sounds to me like this quy should buy Miocroshoft's stuff and just shut up. Ease = money. Cheap or free = work a little. Always has been, always will be.
Sorry, cant give you any horrible examples about US ID cards, you don't have one. If you want to look futher afield---In the recent recall elections in Venezuela you had to use your national ID card to sign the petition for a recall and list your national ID number. That number is now on a list and you don't get a gov. job if it comes up, you don't get a gov. loan (the gov. controls the banks) and so on. Your insurance companies will love it, if you get a ticket in Ohio, your Arazona car insurance will go up-- if you bounced a check when you were 18, again when you were 32 and now have ANOTHER ONE, you are a third time looser. And so on, and on and on. Boy, are you guys going to have fun.
Bet you havn't figgured out that address you use to sign on the internet will be your national ID number, have you. No need to try to monitor all those messages, just look on the sites you want and see who signed on! Boy, are you going to have fun. If you can beat this one, you just may be better than they think you are!
Just about every study ever done (by anybody except educators) has shown that money has little to do with education. Nobody ever figgures this out--of course not because good education comes from great buildings with new carpet- right!
It's because America is lazy now. Change requires work, and America is just lazy.--Sad, but true. But it is not just Americans-- when Chavez was fighting the referendum in Venezuela a couple of years ago, a leading political author from Spain had a two page article in one of the leading papers where he outlined the rise of Hitler's paryt in Germany in one column and Chavez's rise in the other column. It was real scary--then Chavez made it a felony to publish articles against the government.
The people just sat on their ass and watched things get worse, and worse, and. . . .
Bush uses terrorism, Chavez uses the US. Bush has terrorism alerts-- Chavez has US attack alerts.........and both peoples just sit and watch what develops...............
With ONE BIG DIFFERENCE-- People in Venezuela tried to get Chavez out and it almost worked---
until Mr. Played-one-football-game-too-many-without-his-helm et Carter showed up and decided the election was "very democratic".
So just sit on your asses and watch what happens. Hell, what do I care, I live in Central America anyway.
If you should ever read a "history book" (that is information that has been downloaded, colated and printed out) you will find stuff like-- in 1807 Britan had taken the lead in the abolitionist movement and had banned slave trafic while threatening nations who still had slavery--at the same time it was acknowledged that "great numbers of of these (british) children are regularly bought and sold" on the streets of English cities.
Now I ask you just how far is that from.......
In 2006 the United States fights war to give Civil Rights to downtrodden people..........while on the streets of the US civil rights are ????????
Well Duhhh--
It seems that the military do not even start to heed thier own designation of secret data and if this were a 4th or 5th grader who had lost his-her backup files, one could take the time to explain how this data could be used if ones non-friend obtained it. Given that these are grown men/women who are trusted with weapons that can and do kill other humans, this type of behavior is totall and uncatigorically unacceptable.
One hopes that they are very busilly buying back the data--however, one also knows that no matter what they buy, another copy will surely be given to those who can use it against the US.
This type of behavior leads me to think of small children playing at war, not grown men and women actually attempting to pacify a country.
If any one is capable of assertaining what happened, those even remotely responsible should be brought home and replaced by adults.
