    depends how bad the puke is. if the whole file (or disk) is puked, it doesn;t matter if the file was text or not.

    try talking to Debian about their config of systemd, they've had a few problems in the past getting it correct. And how is your knowledge of systemd, do you have enough to blame it for your problem?

    i bet you didn't like init scripts until you learnt how to code them by looking up and learning from a bash manual. There is nothing wrong with learning unless you feel you've reached your limit of learning new stuff.

    what messages are thrown away by systemd? the journal logging system is far more comprehensive that syslog/rsyslog has ever been. No logging on systemd is not an option but you can make it non-persistent of you want, it all depends on how you want to configure it.

    repeatedly posting misinformation about systemd is and isn't and what it can and can't do even thought they have been repudiated, counts as irrational in my book

    just one, journalctl. or you can write your own. whats wrong with another tool being developed? Are you a fan of binary database files or should they be flat text files?

    but you can tail journalctl and pipe it. hint: journalctl -f

    journalctl "pipe" [current tool of your choice]

    configure system to forward all logs to syslog or rsyslog for the status quo

    Its all about the configuration files so you know what is related. "init" is an executable binary file so how do you see whats related? Sounds like you are victim of the misinformation posted by a lot of ACs about systemd.
