That's beside the point. Some don't want to see sense.
I don't mean this as a troll comment. I'm very serious. I can't understand why scientific community even bothers to discuss these things with fundamentalists. I propose we just leave 'm be. Discussion won't do much good. But huge resources are wasted on people who don't actually want to learn. This experiment itself in all likelyhood is a perfect example.
Next time they ask you to fix their computer, tell 'm to pray for it instead. That'll help.
Remember flat earth? Archimedes didn't cure that. But good old-fashioned greed and the desire to get things done, did, when Europeans started to establish working trading relationships with previously unexplored continents. Kings and popes had to make a decision, abandon fundamentalism, or abandon profits from oversees explorations.
So, if you're a doctor, or a scientist, or a geek... Remember to tell 'm to pray instead of depending on your services.
I had to read this several times before it started making sense... It's encrypted, really, it is.

That should read:
The experimental strain of bacteria contained a mutated version of
a gene that, in the naturally occurring strain of that gene,
produces a protein that made existence in these temperatures
possible.
So, in short, they disabled the microbes heat resistence, and saw if the buggers could grow it back.
As the president of the Free Autographs and T-shirts Foundation, I much object to this practice. Authographs, like T-shirts, want to be free! We ought to freely hand them out to anyone interested. To cover the costs of this operation, and feed the unfortunate mouths that depend on our activities, I propose we sell a little software on the side...
> Hope that makes sense. (:

I've always wanted to go to Miller-Urey, but I'm afraid I'll fall of the edges of the flat earth...
> Ve is real smart!
No, I'm from spain too, which is how I was able to understand original poster after a couple of reads...
