uhmm... there was an apple commercial, one for the iBook. it was during the first or second quarter i beleive, probably near the end of the first quarter.
However, my personal favorite was the Buick commercial... it started off like a Gap commercial, but then the people started getting ugly and becoming really bad singers and getting scared looks on their faces. Then a car comes power-sliding into view and all the people run off. then the buick logo comes of and under it it says "Its not what everybody else is doing". thats when i totally cracked up... i think this had to be the cleverest, and most satiristic(is that a word?) commercial of them all, although it may have been a little too subtle for some (the logo, with the slogan --and punchline-- was only shown for a split second).

PS for those of you that dont know, the Gap (and its commercials) is a clothing store that gives new meaning to trendiness. They'd make you think wearing blue when most people were wearing red was individuality.
well, it seems that this merger isnt happening... but if it does it totally fuck things up. well i really don think they're going to shove AOL down our throats but if there were significant merger AOL users would probably be allowed access via a cablemodem. well, this would waste the already slim bandwidth. right here w/ my cable modem this guy accross the street recently got a cable modem and has been streaming video or something everday since; since he comes before me on the ring (even though i had subscribe 6 months before him)i have virtually no chance at any throughput... i might be webbrowsing or doing something and all of a sudden i can easily notice a drop in my share or the bandwidth. i was downloading some files getting abuot 80 KB/sec ( i've gotten up to 380 KB/sec before) then suddenly i drop to 1.2 KB/sec and sit there waiting for about 3 hours before i got back up to normal speeds. this type of problem would increase about tenfold if AOLers began to have access to the @home network Also, i find cablemodems about the most *nix friendly net connection available; all i do is specify about 4 IPs and i'm up and running... now AOL seems to haev significant ties with M$. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out that Microsoft is going try to stop linux in any way shape or form. this would mean that we would likely begin to see much less linux-friendly service. It seems that this merger wont even go thru, even at the smallest leve;. HOWEVER! if does go through on large scale i suggest that every self respecting man boycot @home, and switch to xDSL or dial-up. it seems the anti-AOL/MS/etc pro linux/GPL/etc community comprises about 30-50% (=/-????) of the @home user base... if we all pulled out that would make @home think twice about a merger. however, it is highly unlikely that anything will come of this, but i think we should hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
