apple got there first No they didn't, the big difference between iPhone and OpenMoko is that OpenMoko is completely open, so anyone can extend it, while iPhone is closed and only licensed parties can write extensions. This is what uniqe about OpenMoko. Apple added glitter to iPhone, but there are other smart phones (maybe not as good, but I can't judge, it's a long wait till iPhone will be available in Europe) so nothing revolutionary about it. OpenMoko has philosophical feature - openess. So as a geek I know which one is the winner here:)
It's hell on some humans. And S-Expressions is not only for automated code analasys, it's syntax very easy (grammar has only few rules) and easy to understand for humans. When I come back to Lisp I never wonder how to write statemens, forms etc.
Basically programmers gave up Lisp not because of syntax, but because they aren't eager to learn new ways of programming. Lisp introduces many concepts weird for avarage programmer used to imperative languages.
I had problems (half of packages installed, some not configured, some removed because I aptitude (recommended by ubuntu) to do the work. And later tried with apt-get and everything was smoothly resolved. Sometimes superior dependency handling get inferior.
In other words, every programmer should know main programming paradigmas - imperative, functional, logic, object orientated. And a handful of calculis like CSP (which erlang concurrency primitives are based upon):)
I think the story was one of the strongest part of the movie. It has sureal, uncertain mood, like watching one of "Twin Peaks" episodes. Yes I agree with you on with animation part, but I have no complaints about the story.
Main developers where involved in "Elephants Dream" production, this way they could see what features of software designers were in need. They could do fast prototyping of new ideas and test their usefulness in films development:)
I think they got the right joice, then they switched to the spatial interface. It looks very clean and pleasent and you can consentrate on the subject - the files.
It's already invading

And how is .NET better?

It would be a dream comed true :)
If you want real elegancy then use expression orientated language (this is general note, I don't know Ruby).

"People wouldn't stick with software that wasn't doing what they required of it." ummm.. err.. monopoly?

So they have sense of humor :)
