Anyone without bias isn't human. Anyone unwilling to look beyond them is not interesting. Here's an old(ish) documentary:

The series is nice. If you're not familiar with it then what's getting a bit more attention now was being postulated then. It's a few years old. Greene is in it. It's full of fun ideas.

  3. I never saw the article but I did see the recorded video of her "with a cloth" comments which was what the original OP had referenced but that does make a bit more sense though I don't think the GGOP (for lack of a better word) was referencing that.

When I was a wee lad, lots of places could not be open on Sundays. Some could only open for a certain number of hours after noon. I seem to recall them being allowed, for a while, to open on Sundays from Thanksgiving until Christmas but my memory is a bit foggy. These laws, of course, varied depending on where I lived.

Well, for WWII, specifically, I was too young (not born) but my family was there. I, myself, served as a Marine and had the opportunity to participate in combat. Details of which are available.

Oh, wait, you thought I was one of those who wasn't willing to serve and just liked things that go boom. No, I love things that make noise. I am, however, still willing to serve and aid those who can not or will not do so on their own. It's the neighborly thing to do.

Actually, I was a dull child. I don't recall ever having any imaginary friends. I spent much of my childhood on base, my father was a career Marine, so I did have lots of acquaintances. Perhaps they were imaginary? If so, I still think they deserved names.

Well, not to worry then. We'll continue to handle them on your behalf and when the bad guys come and try to take your stuff we will help save you, again, and pay for your country to be rebuilt, again. Maybe the next time, however, you could actually pay back that money like the UK did. That'd be nice. If you could just stop bombing yourselves into rubble every few years, well, that'd be even better but that seems unlikely.

You have that backwards. If you go outside, and not live in a basement, you can actually socialize with real people, like people that you know and stuff. You can make real friends that aren't just a "friend request" and people will give (albeit subtle) indicators that they like stuff. I'm gonna patent the idea, actually.

I don't have a whole lot of life left so it doesn't pain me much to die on Mars. I'd like the internet and books, if you don't mind. I know, it will lag. I mostly poke buttons and read. I can still wait for a video to download, I'm not usually in a rush.

But, I make the rules. You can send anyone you want so long as they listen to my rules. After I'm dead, it won't be long, you can do what you damned well please. I expect to be able to order any terran good, including drugs, to be delivered every six months, no questions asked. I'll get the place squared away and ready for the folks who come later. I'm gonna be getting right ripped on all sorts of mostly illegal drugs (they'll be legal there, damn it) so you might want to make clear directions as I'm going to follow them to the letter so your science will be done as you directed. I'll even sober up a bit for it.

You can use what money I have stashed away to do other stuff. I won't need it. Give some to my kids, they'll understand and be happy for me. Have a good day, I'm out of here. Also, keep making porn for me.

Eh? Well, we'd probably call it something else but it, the effect, would still be there. It'd mean we'd have to throw out the standard model and start anew, as far as I know. I mean, literally, we'd have to pretty much scrap everything. So, it's possible but the effect would still be there and, granted, it might be called something else or explained by some other mechanism.
