IF we go and combine both of these efforts, then we will be going down the Micro$haft route. We do not want a monopoly on desktops, the more the merrier...There is more than 2 desktops, Gnome & KDE just seem to be in the forefront. I love Gnome & Enlightenment, just because I like the look and feel over KDE. When KDE 2.0 is released, it will be installed and tested straight away, If I like it, I'll use it. The whole point with the GNU/Linux movement is to promote better software, by having 2 "competeing" desktops it will make for a beeter all round OS.
IMHO, The next big thing in GUI's will be a 3D desktop environment. I believe that there was an article on/. a few weeks ago in regards to 3dwm.....may be worth a look..~./V\ L I N U X// \\ >Phear the Penguin/( )\ ^^-^^
How can the bottle neck be in CPU performance....It is a 1Ghz processor, How fast is the video card processor running, 400Mhz tops. Think about what you are saying before you type it, that way, you may get some facts right.
I am a normal, well adjusted 23 year old. I went through sheer hell at school due to the fact that I was different...e.g., into computers. Why are children being punished for what is natural human thought processes. If there is one person out there who has not thought about how easy it would be to shoot/kill the souce of their problems, then I will show you a true mental case. It is natural for people to think about killing and violence, but it is our concience that stop us from acting these things out - it is totally normal. I am glad I dont live in the states where it appears that you get persecuted (or even prosecuted)for putting what you think down on paper, I always thought that was free speech and expression of emotions. The kid has every right to sue the school and should screw them for the lot.
Funny, I have had X-free crash on me about twice in six months. I wonder if the XiG driver allows you to ctrl+alt+bckspce? I have never had my Linux box freeze because of the Xserver. Maybe I am just lucky. Kinda sad to know that FUD is not just a Micro$haft ploy:o(
