And those two #'s are exactly how it's going to work for any half decent piece of software - OSS or not -, at least if you have a good relation with your "vendors" (again, OSS or not).
The only (non negligble, I give you that) advantage you get from OSS is that you can backport the thing on your own if really you can't persuade the developer - but then you're pretty much on your own - having to support it yourself -, which pretty much sucks if that's not your line of business.
