From what I've seen GWT and other frameworks are just sweeping the dirt under the rug. The reason web apps are the Frankenstein of software apps is because they are layered on a protocol which wasn't designed for that purpose.
The problem with that book is that it assumes a person incidence in its surroundings can change just by faking some external attitudes: (smiling, flattering someone, etc).
Sorry if it's sad, but the average geek at Slashdot would require an incredible amount of commitment, knowledge and work to achieve managerial character traits... those only come as the product of a completely different mindset.
Hmm I guess what he meant was that, indeed, walking is far more complex than plotting the course of a rocket, etc. The proof? Well, who easy is it to make a robot walk??. AFAIK the mind has to make an incredible amount of calculations just so you can put your foot on the next step down a stairway. Try doing that consciously.
So you NOW code "automatically"? Think of driving... I think at the final stages of the learning process you are in fact doing complex calculations, only they are unconscious, that's how several tasks become second nature.
Agreed.
Another thing that makes me believe all this is nothing but a myth is why, given that there are hundreds, if not thousands, of "investigators" on this subject gathering at UFO's "frequently visited" sites, dedicating their lives to it collecting pictures, recordings, etc... Why on earth is it that all we get to see is blurry pictures or videos of a distant flying object when we have telescopes that can show as a star a million light years from here??? Hell, I can see the craters on the moon with a home assembled telescope, why is it so hard to get a f..king detailed picture of one of those UFO's thousands of miles closer than the moon????

Call me when I can give an alien a handshake.
This story comes from the it's-been-slow-at-slashdot-lately-lets-stir-things -up-a-bit Dept.
So you'll have to wait.
Besides, for a few years there has been a cleaner, cheaper option to internal combustion engines:

Urban legends say the oil companies even threatened the guy who invented this air powered engine.
Not really surprising to me!.
