  1. The different VB.NET's on Making an Argument Against Using Visual-Basic? · · Score: 1

First VB6 and VB.net are different . Then you have the major itterations of VB.NET. I personally like VB.NET 2005 and I really like upcomming technologies like Linq (DLinq, XLinq). I will tell you that no matter what language your using, you better prepare to scale. Not everyone will have a grid, but you need similar code to make good use of quad and eight way cores that Intel and AMD will certainly have out in the application's lifetime. .Net embraces web services and will help you scale and move into other OS's in the future. But you have to know your companies tolerance for Linux. Remember your writing the solutions your client (boss) will embrace. Not just cool stuff for yourself. Check out channel9.msdn.com and look up "server core" and "Linq". You will see that microsoft is taking higher order programming very seriously and taking the simplicity of non GUI servers seriously.
