viruses, trojans, and worms, are all nice and dandy but what about malware? That is what most people have to worry about these days.

Do not make remarks about stuff you do not know what you're talking about. Malware by its very definition is malicious software. Therefore, Viruses, Trojans and Worms are all malware. How did you even score a 4, insightful for your post?

As of now we can still turn off auto updates. If you do a weekly update manually on your windows machine and go to the site you can choose which updates you want. All you people holding their guts over this minor obstacle take a bottle of TUMS and chill out. Until the software giant falls from the fling of a slingshot the software giant will reign over over us all.

  4. Wait a second... on Microsoft Sued Over WGA · · Score: 1

Doesn't WGA only only work when automatic updates is turned on? Or does WGA run independently. Another thing, can't you customize what downloads you want to install? Of course you can.... but I guess that don't really matter because the article is more about how WGA is not properly documented then this post is basically pointless and I don't want to completely waste my time so I'm going to post it anyways and this is a long 455 run on sentence.

Maybe Microsoft is secretly paying this lawfirm as way to combat these damn software companies who think they can install whatever they damn well please on peoples machines.
    *coughs* AOL *coughs*

So why not, maybe it would cost them less money then to hire this firm and pay them off then create 10 new patchs because of a expliots. Now we could say PI v Microsoft basically making it illegal to not show you software package ingredients. There are laws created all the time by way of the judicial system and I hope this goes all the way to the US Supreme court and becomes federal law.

To me this is a major violation of privacy which is already being deminished away by big brother.

I personally think that educating people about WPA/2 and curbing WEP is must. Of course WPA/2 is not compatible with first generation WAPs, but they will be obsolete soon enough. I do not think the Police should be involved. Maybe the lazy ISPs should get off their rear end and make sure people are securing their networks or at least provide some assistance. Some ISPs provide some help with configuring your router, but it is usually an online source that is not really geared toward the general user. As much as I would like to think that most people are computer or internet savvy this is not the case. The general population is either complete luddites toward computer technology or luddites about the inner workings of a computer. From my experience most people just want to click a button and be ready to go and not have to worry about connection issues or whatever issue they may be having. It is always interesting to help people that cannot even compose an email or save a document. As it is I try to help my neighbors with securing their WAPs by connecting to their connection and accessing their printer, if they have one, to print out instructions for them on how to secure their signals. In any case keep the PoPos out of it so they can continue to chase stolen Dunkin Donut trucks on slow speed chases. http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/news/local/06060 5dispatches.shtml

Ok... I think giving people fines for selling games to minors is a bit far fetched. When kids are playing these violent games for hours on end with no regulation their little brains begin to think of violencent situations and maybe they can pull off some stunt they saw on game. The kids that play hours on end with video games they basically try to be some character. Think about it! When I was kid I ran around thinking I was a ninja turtle or a GI joe. The only reason I did this was because I learned it from watching the cartoons and reading mass amounts of comic books. The kids today still watch cartoons, however, they also will play video games for hours on end if you let them. Kids love to learn and explore new stuff all the time. If you expose your child to images of nothing but violence he will more than likely will be violent.
