Hmm... both of my children have been using Linux since they were born, and they still are. As a matter of fact my son was just the other day mentioning that all of his friends are jealous about his computer because of Compiz. Also most of his Windows using mates have not been able to configure Enemy Territory game, which he thinks is because of "ridiculous" windows OS.
My son is not yet in highschool but I'm sure he will stick with Linux by the time he's there. And the same applies for my daughter.
My 77 years old father uses Linux without problems. He does internet browsing, email and digi-photos with it and he's very happy with Linux. The Linux-brand he's using is Kubuntu.
For me personally the answer is simple: Nothing gives me more pleasure than reading serious Microsoft bashing. It's really one of the main reasons why I read Slashdot. And I'm 46 years old. Being anti-Microsoft is a universal feeling for all generations, genders, races etc. It really brings our minds and hearts together no matter if you are 15 or 46. And often saves my day and it makes me feel so good inside!
My father is 76 years old and has only used computer for the last 5 years or so. His first PC had Windows 98, but last year I updated his computer with new motherboard, harddisc etc. + I installed Kubuntu on it. He has been very satisfied with it using Linux.
I don't think Linux is more difficult to use than Windows. OK, my father probably would not be able to install Kubuntu, but he probably he could not install Windows either.
Why on earth are you using this kind of software set-up???? Looks like you are a serious MS-fanboy!!! Are your comments really something to take seriously or just pure FUD? I believe Slashdot readers are educated enough and know what to think about your comments.
OK, well the reason why my grammar is not so good is that I come from the same country as Linus(Finland), and it's already quite late here in Finland(11PM). Practically everyone in Finland is drunk at this time of night during summertime and so am I, so please excuse my typos. Anyway I prefer LILO.
My 75 year old father uses Linux for browsing the internet, email and watching digital camera pictures. He is very happy with it when I told him that Linux is practically immune to viruses. His old PC had Windows and it was wrecked by worms and viruses. He has not had any difficultilies using KDE. Still my father is not a nerd!

You got to be joking...or you work at Microsoft.

The question is, if you don't run Linux, why you install it? Grup does not overwrite Windows MBR if you don't install Grub.
