Curious how it would survive being dropped from a second story balcony onto pavement, oriented so that it lands on a corner - or even face down. Bet the screen is destroyed, and its brains scrambled.
. Everyone knows this gimmick is not going to protect your iPad from a serious fall, because it all depends on where and how it lands.
So 100,000 feet isn't a serious fall? Then what is?
I'm not sure what you mean about "this gimmick" but the whole point of the video is that the case WILL protect your iPad from a serious fall. If it lands differently. If a drop from 100,000 feet doesn't convince you, what will? What about dropping a bowling ball from 3 feet above the iPad?
Aw, shucks! I would've preferred video of a different outcome.
Also, we've had better slashvertisements.
Non-newtonian stuff is pretty cool. Seems like something the slashdot crowd would like. If you don't care for dropping the ipad from the heavens (because it doesn't land the way you think it should) check out their video of dropping a bowling ball onto the glass side.
What Kodak failed to understand is that people have switched from taking photos for remembering and commemorative reasons to using photos for identity and communication.
eh? Where did that premise come from? You look at Flickr photos and decide that people use photos for identity and communication? I don't see any evidence that the majority of the population DON'T take photos to remember and commemorate.
Is reading comprehension so difficult? TFS says "putting overall compensation back at January 2008 levels." It says nothing on how 2008 levels compare with 1999.
Actually, the average is lower than they report, for several reasons:
1. Employment levels are down, so you have to factor in all the IT workers who are either making $0, or delivering pizza. The article states that companies are continuing to replace full-time workers with contract or part-time hires.
The average is the average salary of IT professionals, who are making a salary. If you are making your money delivering pizza, you aren't an IT professional. If you aren't making any money, well you are ALSO not an IT professional. So no, you don't factor in the people making $0 or the people working in other industries.
Is using code snippets from the internet really an issue?
Have you SEEN some of the code snippets from the internet?
Ignoring the legality of copy/pasting code from the internet. How secure and well written is random code off the net? That is the problem.
I use my ex companies phone number for this at my local grocery store. The cool thing about doing that, is I don't shop much, yet I can almost always take advantage of some discount or another.
"I realize that I am signing a law that directly contradicts the contradiction, therefore I don't like it. But I'm doing it anyways. But its ok, cause I don't like it and I'm crossing my fingers as I sign it. Please vote for me again. I said I didn't like it, isn't that good enough?"
You have a right to protest, to share your ideas, and to educate the public. You do NOT have the right to squat in public spaces until the world does things your way,
Where in the First Amendment does it say you can only protest for two months, or any other limited amount of time?
Better watch out. Your camera manufacturer may change the EULA on the software your camera runs, claiming copyright on all photographs taken with the camera
Try again. It doesn't matter who owns the camera... If I pick up your camera, and take a photo, I own the copyright on the photo I took. Even with your camera, even without your permission!
What about all of the old celluloid films which are disintegrating but can't be copied to preserve them because their copyright ownership is cloudy?
Nothing is stopping anyone from copying an old celluloid film (I'm assuming someone actually holds the old celluloid film in their hands) They just can't turn around and start distributing that copy. Of course if you don't have the film in your hand you can't copy it no matter what the law is
The original owner is deprived of NOTHING when a copy is made.
The original owner is deprived of a potential sell. Sure not all pirates will pay for what they stole, and sure some people WILL pay even after the stole it. The general consensus is, if there were no pirates, there would be more sales. I think, if the price is right, this would be true. If the price is not right, there may actually be more sales due to piracy (and people "trying before buying")
This is just anecdotal but I know a LOT of people (including a lot of people on here) who can afford to purchase music and games and songs, but don't because it is easy and free to pirate.
I'm not thrilled with the security checkpoints at airports, but I do understand that an airplane can be turned into a giant guided missile that can take down a skyscraper.
Not only are there other ways to take down a skyscraper, there are other ways to "turn an airplane into a giant guided missile" That doesn't give them the right to take away my rights and treat me like a criminal every time I board a plane.
In the old days, a terrorist would smuggle on to the plane almost anything as there was virtually no security.
In the old days how many incidents were there? Ohh thats right, not very many.
Body scanners are not the answer... profiling and behavioral analysis is.
Because it is impossible to beat profiling and behavioral analysis?
The right thing to do is to treat your citizens with respect. Understand that there will be some incidents. There will ALWAYS be incidents, whether or no there is security theatre.
The cover is 50-90 dollars and you can get it at G-Form's website. http://shop.g-form.com/collections/our-products

Contrary to popular belief, balloons still can't fly in space.
What do they do? Fall to the ground?
People don't make art just because they need a quick buck.
No, but a lot of people do. And those that can get paid to make art, generally create better art than those who do it as a hobby.

I don't think modern engines and transmissions waste that much energy on acceleration.
Think again

So "I was using public transportation" is no longer a valid defense?

Copyright, by massively hampering culture, is the very worst thing we have.
And yet a majority of that culture would not exist without copyright.

If 10,000 people share a file, and you charge one person for "making available" 10,000 copies, then you cannot penalize those 9,999 other people.
Sure you can. They all broke the law.
It's pretty clear that the primary threat the Think Tanks envision is not shoe wearing, scrotum burning terrorist but rather the US population
You do know WHY we have the right to bear arms?
