  1. Hey Moron You get out of IT on Which IT Careers Are Hot and Which are Not? · · Score: -1, Flamebait

You are a tool, a complete asshammer, the guy is wondering what might be hot in the field. As anyone, with a clue, knows in this field if you're not moving forward you're falling behind. We all need to take stock in our skill set, every now and then, look at where we're deficient and challenge ourselves to learn new skills.
You are the kinda of stagnant moron that muddies the job pool. I hope to God I never have to work with you on a project. Let me guess you are a "paper" MCSE. You probably got into IT for the money. Damn I hate people like you. You slow progress. Why don't YOU go get a job at McDonald's where your penchant for mediocrity will be appreciated and thrive.
By the way as you can see I took 3 minutes to log in,f*cking coward to boot.

Forget the obvious little dick/compensation jokes. I have always gotten women because I have a great personality and I am good looking.

So this leads me to believe you are an ugly, dim-witted, little man (with a small dick).

Oh and for the record let's not "throw out the baby with the bathwater", Hybrids have made a lot of progress and I hope they continue to.

...who cares? The fact is that neither candidate has the interest of "the people" in mind when they run. We do our best to choose the lesser of two evils and the gap seems to be narrowing with time. If you really want to affect change then run for office yourself and maintain your ideals through your term (if you get elected).

But to continue to cry over past elections, especially when the it's with a lame duck presidency; well, what is the point. Had the election gone the other way do you really believe we, or the world, will be any better off? Please tell me that no one that visits slashdot is that naive?!?

  4. hmmm makes me wonder...? on Why Johnny Can't Code · · Score: 1

Being an avid Linux user I have to wonder where I would be if a young Linus Torvalds did not have access to his first computer (I think a Commodore 64) and if all the software he wanted was readily available. I guess we wouldn't have Linux. Maybe David Brin, the auther of "Why Johnny Can't Code", has a valid point after all.
I think his point was; as we are moving forward, which is good, let us not make the past obsolete in the process. To use his automotive analogy: new cars today are amazingly tech, but you can still buy a brand new recently manufactured 350 small block to put into your muscle car. For all the new the old hasn't been forgotten or written off as useless.
More importantly I believe the auther wanted to give you something to think about not complain about.
One other note: Why is it whenever someone writes something thought provoking there are so many people that view it as a last minute article to meet an editor's deadline?

  6. I've done plenty on Microsoft's High School Opens in PA · · Score: 1

You are a moron barely worth responding to. I'll tell you one thing I've done is not kiss Micro$oft's ass. How about looking at the big picture? Do you really think Bill and Co. really care about American education beyond what it means to his market share? Get the kids hooked on his products now and then when they are decision makers it will be even easier to pawn off crap like Windows Me. But I'm guessing either you are still enamored with that OS or you're the kind of MS Cronie that can't wait to line up for their latest release of anything. But don't worry while you are eating Bill's table scraps people with real intelligence are finding the security flaws in all things Micro$oft and either fixing them or exploiting them.

And as for what I've done? I have worked as a teacher in a school teaching grades 3rd through 12th. And during that time I tried to show those kids the truth as I introduced them to other ideas and concepts in technology (I mean beyond Micro$oft is good because they're every where, so they must be good, right?).

If Bill is so well intentioned why doesn't he volunteer his time teaching programming? That would be a far greater cause than creating future Windows addicts.

    Please, think before you speak!

  7. Say What You Want? No, say what is truth dumbass! on Microsoft's High School Opens in PA · · Score: 1

The real problem with the school isn't necassarily Micro$oft's managment techniques it is the lack of choice.
Everyone can make a "funny" at the Redmond Crew and that is well and good. But Mico$oft's involvment in any school system, no matter how well intentioned it may seem, is no laughing matter because it just furthers their cause of a complete monopoly.

Do you think Bill Gates gives a rat's ass about the kids in Philly, or anywhere else for that matter?

If you do you are fooling yourself. Billy Boy's interest is in future consumers of his company's product. If he really gave a damn about education he would support an unbiased technology base that included open source products and other OSes besides his own.

This my disillusioned friend is more about market share than education. And to believe anything else is just plain stupid.
