Hmm... I guess Altavista quite knowingly links to a lot of warez pages.
That surely does NOT make sense. Since most people have a free will (and there are laws governing the actions of those who don't) we can, in our very self-conscious, lawful way choose not to download copyrighted material (or kill, steal, whatever..) just because we are presented with the opportunity.
As stated in the article: It would be cheaper to save still present species from extinction than to re-create already extinct ones. Still, it's an interesting (and highly debatable) project which surely would lead to a better understanding of DNA, but an inefficient way to preserve species.
> (maybe they have one of those memory-eraser things from "Men In Black" - heck, all those billions of R&D have to go somewhere. i don't thing they've ever actually pulled a product out of R&D, it's all copying/embrace & extend)
Heh. Could be, I recently noticed how Win95 would make this rapid flashing thing during bootup, right after the screen that says...hmm, can't seem to remember exactly what it says. Hmpfh, I'll get back to that later. Right now I've got this irresistible urge to buy proprietary software'n'stuff...
128MB seems to be more than enough for the server I'm running (with apache, ftp and >10 simultaneous telnets running gcc and debugging...). Admittedly, not the most mission-critical or demanding of tasks, but it might give you swappartitionformatting folks an idea of what is possible. It seems as if linux can, when it wants to, do some rather impressive garbage collect...

Nope, it seems like this was a criminal proceeding alright.

Yup, still around. And maybe it's time to revive the old vacuum cleaner commercial (Urban legend? Yes? No?):
"Nothing sucks like an Electrolux"
Nothing sucks like their marketing department.
