Interesting vagueness about the package management issue. Very noncommittal. Odd when you consider how important this issue is. In many ways the distro IS the package management system, as confirmed by his comments re how hard to change. Notice there was no mention of Conary, which is also odd as it is is created by ex Red Hat employees and is very powerful. When you also take into account his other comments re how the distros are very much alike when they are installed, it would seem that rather than have a distro switch to another package manager, you might just as well change to a distro that already uses it. The comment re the similarity of distros once they are installed also clearly supports my contention that there are too many distros and not enough justification for them when they are so much alike. The only characteristic they all share is that none of them work properly. This proliferation of distros is definately the biggest weakness of Linux. Regarding the issue of the Live-CD and the graphical install of Ubuntu, which he regarded as cool - why not simply use it rather than re invent a Fedora wheel? Isnt that the reason for the GPL? Why does every distro have to come up with its own wheel? Is it more of the NIH syndrome?
