  1. Bio-Mechanical Body on Your Holiday Present Wish List · · Score: 1

For Christmas, I want a bio-mechanical body, something similar to the one discussed in Black Sabbath's "Iron Man." Included in said body are a multitude of lasers, just because. Also, sound and video will be wired directly to my brain so that I don't have to rely on displays or speakers to have access to content. That's what I want.

I didn't say Metallica sued for trademark laws. I'm saying that by argument, Metallica should be defending their trademark.

  3. Re:baiting the troll: Here, boy! on Two-Faced Napster? · · Score: 1

"Metallica" is a trademarked name. It is Metallica's legal responsibility to remove their name from Napster.

  4. Conspiracy on Why Do We Still Use Gasoline? · · Score: 1

I'm not usually one to cry conspiracy with stuff like this, but I'm afraid that's the case. Back when carburators were used primarily instead of fuel injectors, there were carburators that were capable a achieving 200 mpg. This would have obviously hurt the oil industry, so it was quickly put under wraps. The problem with gasoline engines is that when the fuel injectors or carburators spray fuel to be combusted, they spray the fuel is large (relative) drops. If the spray was a much finer mist, it would burn faster and produce higher effeciency in the engine. With the large drops, the fuel burns more slowly and some of the gas is wasted completely because it fails to burn completely. Conspiracy my friend, conspiracy.

  5. Re:mr katz, a rebutal on Shut Down Metallica, Not Napster · · Score: 1

Well said, I will just add that sometimes Metallica spends months in the studio, not just 15 days. They pour their heart and soul into the music. It is their only profession, their only source of income. But suddenly everyone wants artists to do it for free just so that they can save a few bucks by not buying a CD.

  6. Re:How is privacy violated? on Shut Down Metallica, Not Napster · · Score: 1

Amen man, finally someone who shares my views. Also, someone who thinks before they post inane garbage like a lot of the users do. I especially liked the part about sharing the book in PDF format, that was great. You just made my day.

  7. Stupid on Shut Down Metallica, Not Napster · · Score: 1

Metallica is invading fan privacy!? Last time I checked it is illegal to distribute mp3's. Napster warns that some mp3's are illegal and that the responsibility lies solely in the hands of the user. To claim that some people don't know this is also stupid. If you don't read the warnings then you are guiltly. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. If you bother to read the chat transcript from Tuesday night that is avaiable at Metallica's website, you will see that their fight is because they want and deserve the right to control where they music is distributed. They own the music, there is no question about that. To bring up privacy issues in a matter such as this is very stupid and I am disappointed that Slashdot is posting this garbage. That's like saying if I kill someone in the privacy of my own home, it is okay. Most of the people who are advocates of privacy are the people that have something to hide.

  8. Newspapers on Would You Ever Read A Newspaper Again? · · Score: 1

Maybe if newspapers had a point and click interface I would be more prone to read them. Also, the way newspapers fold is stupid. They are giving news on like 9 square foot piece of paper, that is far to unwieldy to be useful. If newspapers were in a form more like magazine, I would be prone to pick one up and go through it. Even if I don't read everything in a magazine, I flip through it page by page looking at headlines and other stuff that catches my eye. The organization of newspapers is horrible too. It is kind of a collage of information. I like my information to appear neatly in sequential tables not just thrown in a spot where it will fit. I also like the idea of have a summary of an article and then a link to the full story. That is useful for not wasting time reading through a long article that turns out to be boring. Other than that, newspapers are great.
