The facts are there Wikipedia China grew like mad when it was not censored, which means, CHINESE people edited it, not any western person, it grew up to top ten wikipedia languages, so it means somewhat that your people want some free access to information (read and write), we are not talking about truth here, but perhaps "history" or even "science" or lots of other things that you can find in an encyclopaedia.
So get lost with your west vs china dichotomy, we are talking about censorship here. If you like censorship, good for you, it looks like lots of Chinese litterate people don't like it and like Wikipedia.
