Technic Lego bricks were more expensive, I'll concede that, but with good reason. Certainly, the pieces I had were MUCH stronger and more durable than the Construx set I bought years after. Construx girder plastics were very brittle, and tended to crack, whilst my Technics set from the early 80's (1982?) still gets use from my little sister. The expense argument is a bit thin... Compare: "Why can't I get a programmer/analyst with 10 year s experience for $5/hr?"
