  1. Re:quicktime on The Next Generation of XAnim · · Score: 1

if you try to play a sorenson enocded quicktime file, xanim dies with the message that it cant yet play sorenson encoded quicktime and hopes to in the future. i also hope they will in the future or i wish mac would realize there is a large (large enuf anyways) target market who would love to see sorenson encoded quicktime. some who might even pay..

Since Apple doesnt seem to be doing anything about the linux community anytime soon, i wonder if there are any plans in the works to make xanim able to play sorenson encoded quicktime files..
all those pretty trailers like Final Fantasy (The Movie.) Its the best cg ive ever seen, but i cant watch it because xanim wont play it.
And all those funny commercials on adcritic. is there maybe a way using windows dll's or something?

  5. speaking of distributed cpu power.. on Computer Makes Robot Offspring · · Score: 1

someone earlier was talking about how biological entities are composed of small building blocks and givin enough processing power, robots could do the same.

what about using distributed.net or something similar to calculate evolutional twists or sort out quirks in an artifical dna strand (if it would work that way at all)

    could it be done?

    but.
i dont get what the big deal is. no one is looking for less polution. they want cheaper gas, and to not put the polution right over the citys and everything where all the people are.
if nitrogen is kept in a sturdy tank, it can be kept liquid at any temperature (within reason.)
Look at nuclear power plants. they have very high temp liquid water runing thru pipes.
nitrogen will expand to turn a turbine (a tesla tubine (highly efficent, and relatively maintenance free)if people are smart) and it will expand because its boiling point is low. its also warm so will have some of the energy it needs to expand.
