You are lucky you have the fios option, unfortunately I got Comcast just in time- as they bought out my local cable company.
Comcast said there would be no service interuption, yet cable TV was out for 1 day and cable internet was out for 4 days. The internet is now slower, 10,154 kbps after the router and Comcast says they are providing 30,000 kbps and the router is choking down the speed- yet the choked down speed from my old provider was ~20,000 kbps. Comcast ensures their internet is a lot faster, yet it seems slower to me and the numbers back up my claim. Also, they are offering an introductory rate for 12 months that is comparable to my former cable company, yet after the introductory offer expires, I will be paying twice as much for the same service.
I feel that I am being robbed and do not have any other choices (satellite TV with a long contract and dial up internet are my other options if you can even consider those feasible options).
I thought capitalism would allow these large companies to fail because other companies would come along that provide better service at a cheaper rate, yet these monsters continue to grow and screw over thousands of customers.
I have had my current cable company for 5 years, with negligible rate hikes. In one year, I will be paying twice as much for the same service from Comcast- it's Comcastic!
I paid $10, that went straight to the band. If it was released through a RIAA label, I would need to pay $179 if I wanted $10 to go to the band. I'm glad I could give $10 the actual producers and innovators behind the product I was purchasing without having to give the cartel $169.
They should have switched a while ago, and let there be a transition period for those with limited income to upgrade without being left in the dark. This would be a fair switch, and save the taxpayers a ton of money. For those who refuse to upgrade, the government is going to subsidize converter boxes. Since when does the government subsidize entertainment? I'm sorry, but TV is not an essential service. Is our society that dependent on the boob tube that our government will subsidize converters so we can all have TV? Perhaps if we would watch less TV, we would not be so far behind the rest of the developed countries in producing college grads in the technical fields.
It will only be blamed on Bush if they find weapons of mass destruction on the P2P networks.
I love the Who, and want to obtain their music without supporting the RIAA. Therefore, I buy CD's in the used bin so my money goes to the record store offering the used CD service and not to the labels. It's sad that congress is wasting their time with this issue while there are so many bigger problems. If they come up with a stupid resolution, everyone should boycott all entertainment associated with the RIAA and MPAA. There is independent media out there, and these things called books (people used to read them for entertainment).
The music industry thinks they are entitled to all of the entertainment income, and doesn't see that they are becoming a smaller part of the entertainment industry.
When I was young, I could spend my money on baseball cards and records. Later home video games were developed, and after that DVD's became a commodity in the entertainment industry. There are a ton of products out there competing for the cash in a kid's pocket. Am I the only one who sees this happening? If the entertainment industry is seeing record video game sales, do they stop and think that perhaps sales elsewhere in the entertainment industry will go down?
On another note, I used to be an avid music collector. Recently, I have only purchased used cd's and have decreased my purchases. If I really want music, I do not want the RIAA to get my money.
Have you ever put together a set of "plans" using AutoCad? All notes and text is in UPPER CASE (that button did come in handy for this post).
There are also a dos based programs which only read CAPITOL LETTERS as their parameters.
I guess there users do not matter to your real-estate quest on the keyboard.

...and the same Melinda Messenger who drinks rum and coke on TV.
Unless rum and coca-cola occur naturally. Melinda, where can I find that rum tree?
