Erm... What about disliking unfair practices and monopolistic tendencies makes you "braindead" exactly.
I am no MS fan, and I can tell a good UI when I see one.
Let MS keep the ribbon, and OOo can ride the Status Quo.
The ribbon looks nice but does nothing for productivity.
