The main argument behind all of this is that the "artists" feel as though they are being cheated. They're making $99 billion instead of $100 billion, or whatever. Oh, boo hoo.
What are they doing with the money, besides buying fancier cars and bigger houses?
These artists, in an effort to squeeze every last dime from their audiences, are letting down the facade. They're showing that they're not really artists, just some people out to make a quick buck.
Metallica was supposed to be the rebel band, the hardcore band, the antisocial band, the party band, the crazy band, the band that pissed your parents off. I'll bet than many of the geeks here grew up listening to Metallica, or still do.
But as will all things, the rebels become conservative. Metallica isn't worried about changing the world, they just want their piece of the pie. They've become part of the status quo.
It's the same with Dr. Dre. Wasn't he supposed to be a bad gansta from da hood? For anyone who didn't know it already, I think these debates have pretty much revealed him to be no different from any of the other so-called artists.
Art is about art, not money. Ask the great painters and composers and sculptors who died poor and alone.
I think that it's a highly charged color, in that people either love it or hate it. I've seen some sites in which flaming orange has looked really great, but other people will look at the site and say "what's up with that orange?"
And teal sucks. Always has, always will. Fortunately, Slashdot uses more of a blue-green than teal.
I think that the e-commerce suppy outgrew the demand. It's still a developing market, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon a little too early. Poeple are still slowly coming around to shopping online, but there are so many online stores that it was just a matter of time before some of them started falling away.
The government is actually taking everything into consideration, which is kind of scary, because we won't know until it's over how much they understand the situation.
I think, though, that despite the government's innate silliness, they're actually thinking this through enough that they'll come to a beneficial conclusion.
To me, it almost seems as if Microsoft is bluffing...they've got a very shaky case, but they can't possibly admit to that, so they have to act as if they are actually doing something cool for society.
I think that all these Linux IPOs are a good sign. When was the last time you saw a microsoft IPO, hmmmm????
Bwahahahahahahaha!
*sigh*

Fsck 'em if they can't take a joke, I say.

At least in the U.S., that is. In Finland, people have had hand-held e-mail for quite a while now.
If Transmeta makes one, I'll buy it.
Maybe. :o)
They're established with us geeks, but the rest of the world doesn't know who they are.
Scary thought. Hate to see it happen to Transmeta.
I wish that the old slashdot server was still up...it would be interesting to visit every now and then, like going to a museum. :o)
Natalie Portman wasn't in that episode. There go all my good jokes!
Thanks for stealing my thunder, natalie :oP

Would anyone you know?
Would anyone in their right mind?
unless you know some sort of special technique or soemthing...
I think that's the same problem that God had to deal with when He created all of us! :o)
Oh, wait.
Oh, wait.
Vote Boba Fett for Spam Bounty Hunter General!
Burn, baby, burn!

Poor Microsoft is going to get a surprise when they realize they're not the only kid on the block!
But really, we all know what a joke that is!
